The Hills Creek urban planning project emphasized fostering community engagement by providing a range of residential options, including single-family homes and townhouses. A central community center and an amphitheater were designed for public gatherings, creating spaces for residents to connect. The project prioritized a cohesive neighborhood feel, maintaining a consistent Texian vernacular architectural style, with brick and wood as the primary materials. Buildings were set back 10 feet from the street to clearly define public and private spaces, while a grid layout with secondary alleys ensured efficient circulation and street-facing entrances. Walkability was encouraged through landscaped sidewalks, public seating, and green spaces, complemented by shaded storefronts, approved street art to reduce blank walls, and accessible bike storage, all contributing to functionality and visual appeal.
